  • What are treatment estimates?

Once a diagnosis is made by the doctor, financial estimates will be given to you before treatment is started. Our treatment coordinator will be happy to answer any questions you may have concerning fees, dental procedures, and appointments. If you need an affordable way to get out of dental pain, visit us at Nickles Dental Oral Surgery and Family Dentistry today.
  • How do I know if it's a dental emergency?

Ask yourself some very important questions. First, does the problem threaten your life? If so, you are suffering from a medical emergency and should dial 911 or visit your closest ER. Next, does the problem threaten your immediate oral health? Think a dislodged tooth. If yes, then you qualify. Finally, can you wait until a normally scheduled visit without the problem interfering with your daily life? If not, then call us during our normal business hours Monday - Thursday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM for an emergency appointment with our same day surgical dentist. If after hours, email appointment@nicklesdental.com
  • What should I do if I knocked out my tooth?

For a dislodged tooth, hold the tooth by the crown under lukewarm water. Do this carefully to avoid washing away attached gum tissue. Bring your tooth with you in a sealed container filled with either milk or salt water - do not use regular unsalted water. Contact us to set up an appointment with our same day dentist.
  • What if I broke my tooth?

Collect all of the pieces you can find. Place them in a sealed container and bring them with you to your appointment. We're here to help with urgent teeth surgeries.
  • What should I do for pain or swelling?

If you're dealing with tooth pain, take an over-the-counter pain reliever before you visit us to help reduce your discomfort. According to our staff, taking two 200mg of Ibuprofen and two 500mg of Tylenol at the same time will give the same analgesic effect as Morphine. Do not exceed four doses within a 24-hour period (every six hours).
  • What should I do if antibiotics are upsetting my stomach?

Upset stomach is a normal side effect of antibiotics. Take antibiotics with food. If upset stomach continues, try using a probiotic from your nearest drug store. For more questions or to schedule an appointment with a dentist new patients can count on, call us today.
  • My denture is rubbing and it hurts, what should I do?

If dentures are causing sore spots, do not wear your dentures until you can get in and see our same day dentist.
  • I just had a bone graft done and I am seeing little particles coming from the area what should I do?

When a bone graft is placed, we use extra to ensure the socket has been filled completely. Do not pick at sutures with fingers, your tongue, or objects. Do not use a Waterpik until cleared by Dr. Nickles. As long as sutures are intact, this is not an emergency. Please call the office and let us know about it. If you have more questions about teeth surgeries, contact us.
  • I had an implant placed or a tooth extracted, how do I take care of the area?

After your tooth extraction, take all medications prescribed by Dr. Nickles as indicated on the prescription bottle. Keep surgical sites clean and free from food and debris. Our staff says this includes using a prescribed mouth rinse twice per day, rinsing your mouth after meals gently with warm salt water, and brushing the area with a soft toothbrush.
  • How do I care for my dentures?

According to our same day dentist, you should wear your dentures for the first 24 hours after surgery. After the first 24 hours, dentures should be removed in between meals to rinse them clean. You should also rinse your mouth in between meals. Every night before bed, remove dentures and soak them in a denture cleaning solution overnight. Rinse your mouth out before going to bed as well. In the morning, rinse dentures clean and brush with a soft toothbrush before putting them in for the day. If you have any questions, please call the office at (864) 244-3211.
