Do you have cavities and need a filling? The process of having a dental filling applied is now virtually painless. Dental fillings can help prevent the loss of a tooth. Dental fillings replace part of a tooth that has been damaged by cavities or injuries. Restoring the tooth with a filling helps preserve the tooth. If you have a sensitive tooth, don't ignore instead tell Dr. Daniel Nickles or our Hygienist about it.
We offer two dental filling options:
- Composite Fillings- Also known as tooth-colored fillings, provide good durability and resistance to fracture in small to mid-size fillings that need to withstand moderate pressure from chewing. They can be used on either front or back teeth. If you want a more esthetic and natural look, this is your best choice.
- Dental Amalgam- Also known as "silver-colored" fillings. Dental amalgam has been used for years by dentists. Amalgam is very durable than tooth-colored fillings and if propely maintained can last decades. If you want a filling in a back tooth that will provide you with years of service, this is your best choice.
